Dave grew up in East Yorkshire before moving on to Manchester to study at the Royal Northern College of Music with Lydia Mordkovitch.

Based near Manchester, Dave had a successful and varied freelance career working with orchestras and ensembles across the UK. As a principal member of Northern Chamber Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, and Psappha Contemporary Music Ensemble he appeared regularly as director, leader and soloist and made many broadcasts in radio and commercial recordings.

In 2015 Dave took the position of principal first violin with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and moved to Scotland where he lives in beautiful Loch Lomond. The hugely varied repertoire of the orchestra from baroque to music written yesterday keeps him on his toes.

Dave has been a regular coach with VaCO since its inception and has also enjoyed appearing as soloist on a number of occasions.

Away from the violin he enjoys looking after his bees, playing table tennis, brewing beer and following the mixed fortunes of Newcastle United.
