VaCO BURSARIES FAQs

How can I apply?

You can apply by email. We ask you to send us a statement of not more than 400 words, outlining any recent musical achievements you’d like to tell us about (school concerts/competitions, ABRSM successes etc.), the reasons for your application to our Bursary fund, and a paragraph on how you hope this VaCO course will help you further your musical goals.

Who can apply? What are your priorities for Bursary awards?

Anyone is welcome to apply for a Bursary. We prioritise those with greatest need, and students on instruments where we are particularly keen to find new students.

What supporting evidence do you require?

We require a statement of not more than 400 words, outlining any recent musical achievements you’d like to tell us about (school concerts/competitions, ABRSM successes etc.), the reasons for your application to our Bursary fund, and a paragraph on how you hope this VaCO course will help you further your musical goals. We do not ask for supporting financial evidence at the time of application, but we may request further evidence for your application when it is assessed. This is in line with the requirements of our funders. We will never ask for information we do not need, and data will be retained in line with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What are my chances of success? How many applications do you get, and how many awards do you make?

Around 30% of our course applicants will also apply for bursaries. The number of bursaries awarded for each course can vary based on the number and quality of applications received.

How long will it take for me to receive a decision?

You will receive a decision from us by the 30th June (Summer Course) or the 30th October (Winter Course)
